Adéla Janská
Janská amalgamates the liminal with the corporeal, projecting a signature presentation of feminism in contemporary life.
While we often navigate life avoiding a voracious gaze. Adéla Janská's subjects eschew these perils of consumption; her subjects are decidedly resolute in refusing to be devoured or providing pleasure. Strong, despite their seeming fragility, Janská’s women seduce with deceiving accessibility.
Each painting begins as a collage composed of disparate images: porcelain figurines from her collection, nude photographs, and clippings from fashion magazines. Janská sutures her source material and veils them with porcelain surfaces to compose a reinvented and reconstructed female entity. Taken as a whole, Janská amalgamates the liminal with the corporeal, projecting a signature presentation of feminism in contemporary life.
