Hélène Padoux

Overview

Naive sweetness in the grip of latent corruption illustrates the ambivalence and complexity of human interactions where vulnerability and sincerity are often threatened by the temptation of power.

Hélène Padoux is an artist who lives between Paris and Hamburg and works mainly with painting on canvas and fabric. Her figurative scenes, sometimes diffuse and calm, sometimes toxic and aggressive, depicts a universe of innocence and deception, haunted by a melancholic specter. Naive sweetness in the grip of latent corruption illustrates the ambivalence and complexity of human interactions where vulnerability and sincerity are often threatened by the temptation of power.

Padoux holds a BFA from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and is currently finishing her MFA at HFBK University of Fine Arts (studio Jutta Koether), Hamburg. Padoux has exhibited in group shows at Šopa Gallery (Košice), Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof (Hamburg), and Bastione San Maurizio (Turin) and in a solo show at Lily Robert gallery (Paris).
