Ruba Nadar

Overview
Ruba Nadar is a painter based in London, UK. Their practice is guided by questions of tenderness, eroticism, and Arab-ness. By dissecting and reassembling fragments from their own archive of photographs and research, they explore characters through textures in their work. These cinematic characters include made-up varsity athletes and queer sphinxes. Their work marries cultural imagery and symbolism with painting and fabric off-cuts, deconstructed garments, and found objects. Influenced by their own experiences, Ruba’s work closely examines the narrative potential embedded in objects, moments, and memories.
