Dominic Dispirito

Overview

Dispirito’s vibrant paintings often draw upon autobiographical and sociological sources although thematically the work is not limited there. Dispirito’s practice is a world without boundaries.

Dominic Dispirito, born and raised in Clerkenwell, lives and works in London. He is known for the multi-faceted nature of his practice, with a stylistic freedom ranging from illustrative representation and realist portraiture to abstraction. Dispirito’s vibrant paintings often draw upon autobiographical and sociological sources although thematically the work is not limited there. Dispirito’s practice is “a world without boundaries”. His recent body of work features representations of recognisable Cockney or East End TV personalities, such as Fools & Horses and Sid James who reflect the characters of Dispirito’s upbringing and a celebration of the British working class.
