Support: Curated by Gaïa de Crecy
Guts Projects is excited to present Support; a group show curated by Gaïa de Crecy with works from Jack Harper, Cato Ink, Luke Chin-Joseph, Connor Kawaii, Aimée Maynard-Smith, Cosima von Moreau, Re-Noir and Gaïa de Crecy. Mixing photography, painting and sculpture, the exhibition wants to promote diversities in art forms and support between creatives. In a big city where comparison and competition seems to have overtaken the art world, “support” wants to be a reminder that there is space for everyone.
Exhibiting Artists:
Luke Chin-Joseph, a south-east London based artist. His practice explores the temporal nature of cosmopolitan city life. He’ll be showing his latest sculpture called ‘Walking’.
Gaïa de Crecy, a French and Austrian filmmaker, photographer and curator based in London. She’ll be showing “Eurostar”, two pictures exploring the feeling that both Paris and London provide.
Cato Ink, lives and works in Peckham, learning by imitating his favourite artists in painting, collage, music and animation. He’ll be showing ‘Certain Things’, an acrylic piece on canvas.
Connor Kawaii, a south east London based artist that specialises in the mediums of collage and sculpture. Exploring societal and cultural norms. He will be showing 3 skateboarding pieces: ‘revenge/ a dish best served cold’ a duo deck art exploreing angst and pain and ‘100kg’, exploring the power within and accessing hidden talents.
Aimée Maynard-Smith, designer and owner of MEMA, a custom sustainable bag company. She is a lingerie designer at heart yet thrives from being able to use different creative practices within her work, each week/month/year is something new. She’ll be showing a floating handmade silk lace and ostrich feather 3 piece lingerie set.
Re-Noir, a multidisciplinary artist, exploring identity, race and emotion using autobiographical references from memory and observation, delving into the fragile inner essence of fear, growth and self-understanding. He’ll be showing 2 oil on paint on canvas - “Third-Person Action Adventure” and “Poolside funeral”, inspired by Gwendolyn Brooks poem : pool players
Jack Harper, a 27 year old, London based Multidisciplinary Creative & Founder of Aeliza. He’ll be showing a piece called “Passage of Time”, shot in motion on a minibus just after leaving the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Finding peace in unpopulated landscapes. A rarity from the lens of an individual that's from a densely populated city.
Cosima von Moreau, London based sculptor. Her work is primarily inspired by the repetition found within the shapes of nature, highlighting the microscopic and exploring the fantasy and surreal ecosystems that exist but are beyond our line of sight everyday. She’ll be showing 2 pieces: “Exoskeleton of Protection”, made of hundreds of individual shapes that slot into one another to make up a protective armour and “Mouth” inspired by the mouth of an orchid flower and made with a single shape repeated multiple times, meticulously placed to make up a circle-like shape.
About the curator:
Gaïa de Crecy is a French and Austrian photographer, filmmaker and curator based in London. She’s started curating events such as live gigs and exhibitions under the name of Eyes Green since 2021 with the aim to support as many creatives as possible. She’s also working as a freelance photographer, mostly capturing candid everyday scenes.
