Alba Botines

Overview

Alba’s paintings are the navigation of desire in the world-making of imagination. She constructs imaginary spaces and landscapes that explore ideas about worlds of chaos, order, decay and growth, transition to a new paradigm, a reflection on the liquid modernity we live in where everything changes and it cannot keep its shape; and the interconnectedness between species. We are nomadic subjects.

Botines is interested in the sensations and intensities and the becoming of the painting. Every painting is a new beginning for her, a new desire, a new excitement and a new experience. Botines' work demonstrates immense joy in the surprise of colours, lines and marks interacting and producing tension and contrasts. “Every painting challenges me to asks questions and it's a new opening to something else”.
