The panel converts a single frame of a custom visualization to stained-glass, and the source material was produced using an EmotivPro EEG headset to record the neural activity of the artist´s brain during orgasm. The files containing brain recordings were translated via data visualization using customized software, mapping the frequency of various brainwaves to a colored, 5x14 dynamic grid. A climatic moment of these recordings was selected, and translated to glass using the same colors and composition. The POV displays convert other human indicators of climax (heartbeat, breathing, muscle tension) to 3D animations, deconstructing the experience of pleasure and desire for the audience. These were also recorded utilizing a variety of sensors, mapping the data to the movements of the animations.
The work acts as a speculative, post-pornographic shrine where bodies dissolve to make space for expanded self perceptions. It is a portal to a disembodied perception of Desire, affirming it as a universal force mobilizing the cosmos, while hinting at certain Panpsychism; the inherent Desire of matter, the view that all things experience a will to Be. As such, it is a commentary on the abstraction of human experience, driven by technological advances- but also of Desire in itself, existing beyond the body.
