"From Blue to Yellow, From Yellow to Pink" is about my time back in Singapore last winter break. The painting shows my childhood bedroom's window, outlooking my neighbours' houses.

The title is inspired from the changing hues of the walls of their houses during different times of the day. Blue when it's about to rain, yellow when the sun is out, and pink when the sun is setting. My childhood bedroom is a space that holds a lot of trauma, it is dense with the lowest and highest moments but this particular window and has always been a place of solace for me. The shifting colours of the houses had always given me comfort. This piece is more sentimental as it explores my mental state, navigating through my own disorientation and the gaze of others.

The relationship between the audience and painting is a constant theme within my works. The figures in my work are aware that they are being put up on walls, to be looked at and judged. Some figures confront, some flirt with you, some are indifferent. And some in this case, are attempting to protect themselves by choosing what the viewer gets to see, and what they don’t.
