Jungwon Jay Hur
Jungwon Jay Hur’s artistic practice is an intricate exploration of both intercultural and personal narratives, weaving together a diverse range of influences that span art history, Korean and Western folk music, and 20th-century European cinema. She believes in the collaboration of materials – ranging from painting, printmaking and ceramics - and their inter-being within her practice. Often the awakening of emotions and unfolding of tales are the starting points and she carries these phenomena during the process of creation - it helps her activate the passive, immaterial elements and give them a visual and tangible form. The sense of vulnerability, intimacy and beauty of triviality are central themes in her practice.
