To be picked last is to be left behind. The last one chosen. This painting explores feelings of inadequacy, sometimes spurred on by others but usually a feeling of discontent from within oneself. Leaving yourself behind and not feeling like you are capable of matching your own restrictions. Overwhelmed, objects become shapes. For the title of the show, softer, softest - its telling the viewer it be the softest on themselves.
