Thomas Cameron

Panoramica

Thomas Cameron paints everyday scenes, presenting and defamiliarizing the overlooked, understated, fleeting moments in life, imbuing the everyday with a sense of beauty and grandeur. Film is another important influence in terms of this elevating of everyday subject matter and the telling of untold stories in, for example, the social realism of British kitchen-sink dramas. Especially interested in pictorial devices, and how these can be used to create a psychological landscape as in the work of directors such as Andrei Tarkovsky and Wong Kar Wai. By making use of such filmic qualities in his work, a narrative is suggested, one that is left open for the viewer to interpret.

Thomas Cameron (b. 1992, Helensburgh, Scotland) lives and works in London. He received his MA in Painting at City and Guilds of London Art School (2022) and his BA Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee. Recent exhibitions include ‘What Happens When Nothing Happens’, Taymour Grahne Projects, London (2024); ‘Contemporary Domesticity II’, Taymour Grahne Projects, Cromwell Place, London (2023); Gertrude x Canopy Collections, 4 Princelet Street, London (2024); Camden Arts Centre, New Contemporaries London  (2023); ‘City Scenes’, Taymour Grahne Projects, London  (2022) amongst others.
