"This piece began its execution off the stretcher and went through many processes around the room. I laid the canvas on the floor and soaked it in a mix of water-based materials, allowing the different mediums to bleed in and out of each other. The canvas is then stretched, and I incorporate a frame on one side of the piece to contain the painting - whilst also extending it. I respond to the bloody marks with oil and focus on the moment between me and the painting, listening to its voice and responding through Mark. I incorporate moments of my subconscious, overtly kitsch symbolism, such as stars dragged out from childhood nostalgia and little squiggles of energy around the piece. I strive to push the painting to flee - whilst also trapping it in a moment in time."
