Picking up where Guts Gallery’s online show, When Shit Hits the Fan Again (Feb, 2021) left off, A New Art World signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter. It represents the natural, optimistic progression of Guts, and the artists we’re lucky enough to work with, towards a brighter, more equitable future.

A New Art World points to the post-covid landscape as a site for resistance, reframing, and for what we believe could be a contemporary art renaissance. The group show will unite artists at different stages of their careers working across a variety of disciplines. At a time when making work has become logistically and financially challenging for many artists, we have asked those exhibiting to reflect on this experience, to assess how their methods and approaches may have shifted or evolved under recent pressures.

True to Guts’ artist-led ethos, we have also asked the artists included in A New Art World to collaborate with us on a manifesto to be published alongside the show. We want them to help us shape the future of Guts, and, in turn, to play a key role in directing the impact we are already making on the art world.
