Josias Figueirido

Overview

Working primarily in painting, drawing, and printmaking, Figueirido’s work channels social and personal dilemmas into biographical and fictional narratives. Combining both humor and horror, his work confronts us with situations of conflict and struggle. 

Josias Figueirido is an artist from Spain currently based in Laredo, Texas (USA). He received an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia (2017), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Drawing from the Royal Drawing School in London (2010), and a BA in Fine Arts from London Metropolitan University in London (2008). Working primarily in painting, drawing, and printmaking, Figueirido’s work channels social and personal dilemmas into biographical and fictional narratives. Combining both humor and horror, his work confronts us with situations of conflict and struggle. Figueirido has been an artist in residence at The Fabric Workshop and Museum (Post-Graduate Apprentice Program), Dumfries House, Moritz-Heyman Residency, Vermont Studio Center, and The Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in the United States and in Europe, and his works are in collections such as The Horseman Collection of American Art (St. Louis, MO), Paintings in Hospitals Collection (London), and Francisco Fernandez del Riego Collection (Vigo, Spain).
